On August 9th, 1945, the Nuclear devastation of Hiroshima was dealt upon the people of Nagasaki, Japan, as well.Kurosawa chooses not the Samurai past but a more modern setting for this unusual story of a family reunion: remembering what happened in Nagasaki and reflecting on human nature.
