An unidentified man (M) is beaten to death--but suddenly reawakens without knowing who he is. He wanders into a small, poverty-stricken community where people struggle for dignity in abandoned cargo containers and where a night out means dinner at the Salvation Army charity kitchen... It is here that M meets Irma, another poor soul looking for a better life--and maybe even love.Finnish writer-director-producer Kaurismaki won the Grand Jury Prize at Cannes for this film: a comedy that engages with love and loneliness, pain and poverty, faith and fragility.
